Why Notifications?
Observations must be carried out at specific moments. Without notifications, you would have to constantly check the calendar. Push alerts notify you automatically when it is time to observe.

Enable Notifications
- Find the bell 🔔 icon in the header
- Click on it
- The browser will show a dialog asking for permission
- Select "Allow"

How They Work
Once enabled:
- You will receive a notification at the exact moment of each observation
- They work even with the app closed or in the background
- On mobile, they appear as system notifications
- Tapping the notification opens the app on the recording form

⚠️ iOS (iPhone/iPad)
On iPhone, notifications only work if:
- • You have iOS 16.4 or later
- • The app is installed (added to the home screen)
- • You opened Safari first, not another browser
Troubleshooting
Notifications do not arrive
- Check that the bell icon is enabled (not crossed out)
- Check the notification permissions in your browser/device
- Make sure you are not in "Do Not Disturb" mode
- On Android, check that the app is not being optimised for battery
Notifications arrive late
Some devices delay notifications to save battery. Solutions:
- Exclude Chrome from battery optimisation
- Keep the app "pinned" in recent apps
- Enable "Background data" if available
Disable Notifications
If you want to pause notifications temporarily:
- Click on the bell icon
- The icon will change to a crossed-out bell 🔕
- You will not receive alerts until you re-enable them
