Generate the Observation Plan
What is the Observation Plan?
The plan is a list of random moments at which you should observe the workers. The algorithm generates randomly distributed times to avoid bias.
๐ฒ Why random?
If you always observe at the same time (e.g. on the hour, every hour), workers could anticipate the observation and change their behaviour. Random times ensure representative data across the whole working day.
Configure the Working Schedule
Before generating the plan, you must indicate when work takes place:
Time Bands
Generate the Plan
- Go to the "Plan" tab of your study
- Configure the time bands
- Select the working days (Monday to Friday typically)
- Click "Generate Plan"
The system will automatically calculate how many daily observations you need and distribute them randomly across the time bands.
Calendar View
Once generated, you will see the plan in calendar format:
List of Observations for the Day
When you click on a day, you will see the list of scheduled observations:
Wednesday, January 15
Regenerate the Plan
If you need to change the plan (for example, because the schedule changed), you can:
- Regenerate: Creates a new random plan (unregistered observations are lost)
- Add days: If you extend the study dates
โ ๏ธ Watch out
When you regenerate the plan, already-recorded observations are kept, but pending ones will be replaced by new random times.
๐ฏ Next Step
The plan is generated. Now we will configure push notifications so the app alerts you at the exact moment of each observation.
