Installing the PWA
What is a PWA?
The Work Sampling app is a Progressive Web App (PWA). That means:
- It installs like an app on your device
- It works without an internet connection
- You don't need to download it from Google Play or the App Store
- It takes up very little space (~5 MB)
- It updates automatically
Step 1: Access the App
Open your favourite browser and visit:
Click to request access to the demo:
Step 2: Install on Your Device
📱 On Android (Chrome)
- 1 Open Chrome
It's the recommended browser on Android
- 2 Wait for the install banner
It appears automatically at the bottom
- 3 Tap "Install"
Or open the menu ⋮ → "Add to Home screen"
- ✓ Done!
The app appears on your home screen
🍎 On iPhone / iPad (Safari)
- 1 Open Safari
Only Safari supports installing PWAs on iOS
- 2 Tap the share button
It's the box with the up arrow at the bottom
- 3 Choose "Add to Home Screen"
Scroll down to find the option
- ✓ Confirm
The app appears on your home screen
💻 On Computer (Chrome / Edge)
- 1 Open Chrome or Edge
Both support PWAs on desktop
- 2 Look for the install icon
A small icon in the address bar (⊕)
- 3 Click and confirm
A window will ask for confirmation
Step 3: Verify the Installation
When you open the installed app for the first time, you should see the icon and the app should open in its own window (without the browser's address bar).
💡 Tip
Always update to the latest version of your browser. Older browsers may not support PWAs and the install option won't appear.
What to Do if the Install Option Doesn't Appear
- Make sure you're not in incognito/private mode
- Check that you have enough storage space on your device
- Update your browser to the latest version
- On iOS, use Safari (not Chrome or Firefox)
- Some corporate networks block the install
